The Auricularia grows on old, dead trees or dead parts, preferably on elder or elms. In Chinese cuisine it is a valued edible mushroom under the name “Chinese morel”. In Asia as well as in Europe one knows for a long time of the medical application possibilities of this mushroom. In Europe it was already used in the Middle Ages for the treatment of diseases and complaints.

In veterinary medicine the Auricularia is mainly used where a blood thinning or an increased blood circulation is desired. It improves the flow properties of the blood, the adenosine contained in it has a vasodilating effect and increases blood circulation. Due to its ingredients it improves the oxygen uptake of the cells. It does not attack the collagen of the body, which is why there is no danger of internal bleeding. Due to its balancing and harmonizing (adaptogenic) properties, it can also be used for uterine bleeding and bleeding anal abscesses.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, auricularia has a moisturizing effect on the mucous membranes. In addition, its polysaccharides inhibit inflammation of the mucous membranes.
