Lion’s mane mushroom

Hericium is not only appreciated in China as a edible mushroom. It grows in crevices and caves of old deciduous trees, preferably on beech and oak trees, but can also be found on apple and nut trees. It is rare in Germany.

In veterinary medicine this medicinal mushroom is mainly used for diseases of the digestive tract.

It has an anti-inflammatory effect on the stomach and intestinal mucous membranes and is able to rebuild the stomach and intestinal mucous membranes. This property also makes it an important therapeutic agent in the treatment of allergies, atopic eczema in dogs or miliary eczema in cats as well as food intolerances.

Its ingredients hericenone and erinacin stimulate the nerve growth factor (NGF).

The NGF rebuilds the myelin sheaths of the nerves and thus regenerates the nerves. This makes it a valuable medicinal mushroom for peripheral nerve damage caused by metabolic processes or traumas. Due to the positive properties of hericium on the nerves, it has an excellent effect on anxious, restless and stressed animals.

Hericium has an antitumour effect on stomach and colon cancer as well as on tumours in the duodenum.
