The Reishi – Ganoderma lucidum

Hemlock varnish shelf – Reishi can be found in floodplain, oak and hornbeam forests on stumps and at the foot of living trunks.

It is a very versatile mushroom with a wide range of applications. In veterinary medicine it is used for almost all diseases, often also in combination with other fungi.

Due to its high content of triterpenes in the fruiting body, it has a positive effect on all inflammations in the animal’s body. In the case of allergies, Reishi reduces the release of histamine, which is responsible for swelling, redness and itching. Due to its cortisone-like effect it alleviates inflammations of the skin and mucous membranes.

Due to its positive influence on the oxygen supply of the body, it has an extraordinarily good effect on heart weakness, heart muscle and heart valve diseases as well as heart failure. It increases the oxygen supply of the heart muscle and reduces the oxygen consumption of the tissue. It also strengthens the lungs and is an important fungus in asthma and chronic bronchitis.

Reishi also has a large organ relation to the liver. It supports them in their detox work and helps with liver inflammations. In liver cirrhosis, it has an anti-inflammatory, antifibrotic effect and prevents oxidative damage to the liver.

In general, Reishi regulates the immune system and can be used to strengthen and improve the quality of life of older animals – also as a preventive measure.
