Maitake – Grifola frondosa

Hen of the Woods – the Maitake grows on chestnuts or other deciduous trees. It is an edible mushroom.

In addition to Agaricus blazei murrill (ABM), it has the highest concentration of polysaccharides and is therefore used in cancer like ABM. Maitake inhibits tumour growth and the formation of metastases. Like ABM, it causes tumour cells to die (apoptosis) and strengthens cellular defence. Its use has been proven in bone tumours, bone metastases and brain tumours. It stimulates osteoblasts, improves calcium storage and strengthens bones.

Clinical studies have shown tumor regression and improvement of symptoms in liver cancer and liver metastases.

In diabetes type II, metabolic syndrome and equine metabolic syndrome, this medicinal mushroom regulates insulin receptors. This enables the cells to better absorb and process the sugar.

Its ingestion improves fat burning and helps to eliminate the disorders of fat metabolism in the liver and to break down fat.
