Shiitake – Ganoderma lucidum

Shiitake is one of the world’s most widely consumed edible mushrooms. In Asia it is regarded as the “king of medicinal mushrooms” because of its ingredients.

In veterinary medicine it is mainly used for diseases of the musculoskeletal system. In joint diseases with thickenings of the joints, it promotes circulation and has a strong pain and anti-inflammatory effect. Deformations of the limbs recede slightly when ingested. It has a firming effect on the connective tissue, whereby vascular damage can be prevented.

Shiitake is also excellent for deworming stomach and intestinal worms. This was discovered by Wu Ri, a famous doctor of the Ming Dynasty.

Another field of application in mycotherapy is its regulating effect on the immune system. Shiitake is also used to treat circulatory disorders.

The shiitake contains various polysaccharides which have an anti-tumour effect on the organism.

There are positive experiences especially with leukaemia.
